President’s Message
Dear members and friends:
Season’s greeting to you and your family.
I hope you are getting a chance to enjoy some of the great weather we have been experiencing lately. The outdoor tennis season is definitely right around the corner!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and your family for your support in the last season, and welcome you and your family and friends to come back for another wonderful summer full of joy and friendship at Pleasantview Tennis Club.
With your support, the club still saw a steady growth in our membership count last year under the adverse influences of the wild spring windstorm, City worker strike, economy down turns and our unfavorable court conditions.
One of the good news that I would like to share with you is that with support from Councilor Shelley Carroll (City or Toronto Budget Chief), the reconstruction of our club (Total capital budget over $290,000 including new courts, lights and fences) has been included in the City of Toronto’s long term capital plan which will start in 2014~21015 fiscal year, with the possibility to move ahead to 2011 ~2012 fiscal year. The executive will make every effort to make it happen as early as possible and your continued support is also extremely important during the transition period before the reconstruction happening. The simple truth is that the more members we have the higher priority the City will give us.
The second good news is that the club will have more programs and activities, including a mixed double round robins House League for social players, Club Championships, the NYTA (North York Tennis Association) and ICTA (Inter-county Tennis Association) inter-club leagues for more competitive players and a possible City of Toronto Community Leagues with team tennis format, just to name a few…
This year, that the club will initiate a new member welcome program, any new member join before May 15, 2010 will get a tin of new tennis balls as a welcome gift. If the new member is referred by a returning member, both the returning and the new members will get the welcome gifts to show our appreciation for your support.
Also, with the new website, now you don’t have to wait until the opening day to join, you can simply download the application from the website, fill and mail it to the membership director to get the early bird discount. The club is ready to receive application now.
